What is Foamex?

Published: 28/04/2017

NEW PRODUCT - Foamex Boards!

Even though we have been creating Foamex Boards and Signs forever, we have now launched these as a feature product on our website - avaliable for you to purchase.

We are going to explain what Foamex Board is and its uses, to see if it would work for you.

What is Foamex?

Foamex is a superior quality, extremely versatile PVC foam sheet that is fabrication friendly.  It is easy to bend, cut, drill and glue and you can print on it.

Foamex is mainly used to make signage, banners and exhibition display panels. You can achieve high quality, visually pleasing signage and display products which look far more expensive than they actually are.

  • Point of Sale Signs

  • Outdoor Signs

  • Exhibition Panels

  • Backdrop Displays

  • Advertising Boards

  • Interior Signage

  • Stage Skirts

  • Museum Displays

  • Directional Signs

  • Other Semi-Permanent Displays

Foamex is manufactured with a high quality smooth finish that can be fabricated or cut to shape, allowing designers to create attractive graphic panels for exhibitions or advertising applications. It is a cost effective alternative to more expensive options such as plywood, MDF or aluminium, and extremely durable.

Foamex is water repellent and weatherproof.  It is resistant to moisture and perfect for external applications, although I would recommend 5mm or thicker for wind resistance externally when being used for larger signs.

As a strong, rigid material, it is easy to hang using self tapping screws, double sided Velcro or double sided adhesive pads.  Mounting on Foamex will give you excellent dimensional stability and it may be reused a number of times.

The most commonly purchased signage is the 3mm and 5mm thick boards as they can be easily cut down to size, whereas the 10mm and the 19mm thick board tends to be a little more expensive as it’s usually laser cut. Foamex can be cut into bespoke shapes and can also be used as 3d block lettering in signage, which is sprayed to match colour accordingly.

What Material Should I Choose for My Sign?

Knowing what type of signage to use for your business can be a difficult decision.

3mm Foamex boards would be the first choice for indoor exhibition display graphics, it’s the perfect material for cladding the panels of a shell scheme.

Whereas the more rigid 5mm board is perfect for any long lasting display and outdoor advertising.

The choice is within your hands and with this information we have supplied, it may have given you a clearer sense of what you may require.
